What Are All-on-4 Dental Implants?

Whether you're old or young, you may have a missing tooth or two. You might even be missing most of the teeth from your top or bottom row and you're probably on the search for a solution; one that can replace all of the teeth you're missing without too much surgery. If so, then look no further than the same-day treatment known as All-on-4 dental implants.

What Are All-on-4 Dental Implants?

All-on-4 is an innovative method for replacing teeth on either your top or bottom row. If it needed to, it could also replace all of the teeth on both rows. All-on-4 works by attaching four implants to either or both rows, replacing the roots of the missing teeth.

The implants are made of titanium, which gives them the ability to fuse to living bone. This eliminates the need for bone graft surgery that other treatments might require. In time, your All-on-4 implants will hardly be distinguishable from the natural teeth that you used to have.

The treatment is backed by years of research. It was developed to be a modern solution to the pain that patients with missing teeth may be suffering from.

How Long Does It Take?

The procedure for All-on-4 implants will almost always be finished on the same day that they are started, but you will have to come in for follow-up appointments to be sure everything is as intended.

All-on-4 takes significantly less time investment than similar procedures, thanks to its quick installation.

What Makes It Different From Typical Implants?

Before All-on-4, the go-to replacement for multiple missing teeth were dentures. However, their reliability has come into question in recent years. Especially since dentures can make it difficult to chew food the way you used to.

All-on-4 doesn't have this problem. The treatment leaves you with a full set of non-removable teeth, replacing your old teeth in looks and functionality.

All-on-4 requires significantly fewer implants than most procedures. A missing tooth is usually replaced by a single implant, which can quickly lead to a mouth full of implants if you're not careful. Each implant would also require special care and treatment, which can quickly become more trouble than they're worth. All-on-4 eliminates this by requiring only 4 implants.

Who Is This For?

This treatment is recommended for patients who are missing quite a few teeth. Seeing as All-on-4 is designed to replace an entire row of teeth, it'd make the most sense if you were missing close to that many as well.

All-on-4 is also recommended for patients with low bone volume. If you're unable to have bone graft surgery, then this is certainly the treatment for you. If you have diabetes or osteoporosis, then you may be unable to have bone graft surgery.
